Landing zones come before workload-specific diagrams
Healthcare architecture on Google Cloud works better when the enterprise foundation is designed first. Landing zones determine how projects are separated, how networks are shared, where logs aggregate, and which policy controls follow each workload by default.
In practice, that decides whether regulated clinical, research, and integration workloads share infrastructure or inherit distinct guardrails. This review flow is deliberate: platform teams decide inherited guardrails, domain architects choose the data and workflow pattern, governance teams test the risk boundary, and only then should implementation teams lock in service-level choices. That keeps reference architectures in the right role as accelerators instead of substitutes for design thinking.
Pattern selection is not architecture by itself
Reference architectures accelerate decisions, but they do not replace the need to map the workload’s real data contracts, operating model, and compliance obligations.
